This blog is about my year around the world as a Thomas J. Watson Fellow. I will be going to India, Italy, Thailand, Ethiopia, Canada, Mexico, and Peru. Throughout the year I will be studying Seed Saving and the in-situ preservation of Genetic Diversity around the world. The research proposal for which I have been awarded a fellowship is titled, "Crops and Cultures: The Preservation of Heirloom Varieties."

Hello, I live in northern California and have a large organic garden and practice Bio intensive gardening with John Jeavons and teach interns from all over the world. I grow and save seeds from many heirloom veggies and grains and may have some you haven't heard of. I am looking for an older durum wheat. I grow Kamut but I think it is a early ancestor of durum. Let me know if you know where I can get some and if you need some connections in Peru, I have them. (My daughter graduated from Claremont Mckenna 4 years ago so I know about Pitzer) Let me know if I can help you. My email is bartholo@instawave.net. My name is Ellen
